Joining the City of Perth Band means you'll have the chance to perform with any of our two ensembles. We take pride in our excellent band room and top-notch rehearsal facilities. Whether you're fresh out of school, an experienced community band musician, or just seeking a fun place to play, there's a place for you in the City of Perth Band.
Joining the band is simple — here's how to get started:
Choose the band that interests you the most and schedule a rehearsal visit (you can choose more than one!).
After attending a few trial rehearsals, we will contact you with details on how to join and complete a membership application.
Fill out the membership application to officially become a member of the City of Perth Band.
Unfortunately, running the band is not cheap. Membership fees help cover costs such as utilities, band room rent, insurance, and music scores. Below is a detailed breakdown of our annual membership fees.
Want to join but don't own an instrument? We've got you covered.
We offer a wide selection of instruments for hire, including brass, woodwind, and percussion options.
The annual hire fee contributes to maintenance, ensuring instruments stay in good condition.
We provide an affordable rental fee to ensure instrument hire is accessible to everyone.
We're always on the lookout for new members. While we welcome all instruments, we currently have vacant spots for the following:
• Percussion (Brass Band)
• Trombones (Brass Band and Concert Band)
• Trumpets (Concert Band)
• Clarinets (Concert Band)
• Tubas (Brass Band and Concert Band)
No audition is required! As a community band, we welcome musicians of all skill levels.
Absolutely! Just get in touch beforehand so we know to expect you and can prepare a set of music ahead of the rehearsal. Bring your instrument, and we'll get you situated.
Our membership year runs from 1 February to 31 January the following year. To simplify billing and ensure all members are on the same renewal schedule, we use a quarterly prorated system for new members joining throughout the year.
For example, if you join in June (during Q2), your initial invoice will cover Q3 and Q4 (August through January). When the new membership year begins on 1 February, you'll be invoiced for the full annual membership fee along with all other members.
If you have any questions about your prorated membership fee or renewal date, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Yes, students fall into our Concession membership class. This applies to members aged 19 and under, as well as those with a valid student ID (high school, TAFE, or university IDs are accepted).
We provide instrument hire for a nominal fee on top of your annual membership fee. While we don't have every instrument, we do offer a selection of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Contact us to inquire about availability.
Fill out the form below, and we'll get back to you soon.
